Some stylish Summer Whites !
Tourtour, Provence "Village in the sky" With the price of the Euro still remaining strong in the face of Sterling, the challenge for the Wine Club has been to find good quality wines at the right price. However, with things starting to move back in favour of the pound recently, we reckon the four below fit the bill perfectly, offering great quality yet at a fraction of their usual retail price. We are offering three bottles of each of these wines in a great Mixed Case Offer - 1 Domaine Roc de Châteauvieux Sauvignon Blanc 2007 £5.95 AC Touraine Served blind you would be convinced that this was a good quality Sancerre. Made from the same cépage of Sauvignon Blanc this award-winning racy wine has a beautiful nose of elderflowers with delicious blackcurrant leaf and gooseberry flavours, accompanied by a lovely mouthfeel. Sancerre quality at a fraction of the price!. 2 Bodegas La Val, Orballo Albariño 2007 £6.95 Rias Baixas, Spain The area of Rias Baixas has become the region in Spain to produce top flight Albarino, a grape variety that is now much sought-after. It has a delicate floral nose, which leads into a concentrated, essentially neutral flavour with lovely texture, great minerality and a limey finish. Something really different and at a great price! 3 Dignité Viognier 2007 £6.95 Vin de Pays d’Oc We have always loved this aromatic grape variety and this is currently one of our favourites. It has a beautiful honesuckle nose, and on the palate there is great concentration with delicious apricot and peach flavours, with hints of hazelnuts and the finish and great length. A truly stunning Viognier! 4 Domaine Chante Cigale Les Vignes d’Alexandre Blanc 2007 £6.95 Vin de Pays de Mediterranée This is made from the classic Rhône grapes of Marsanne, Roussane, Grenache Blanc and Viognier, at this famous Chateauneuf-du-Pape property. It has a very exotic nose with complex stone fruit flavours great concentration and a long finish. Exciting, unusual and unoaked, this is a match for any top-notch Burgundy!
