 Les vignerons de Pomerols

Cave de Pomerols

Drive to the outskirts of  the little village of Pomerols, just a few kilometers from the Mediterranean, and you will find the modern cooperative of the Vignerons de Pomerols.  They have been making wine since 1932, and a combination of careful selection of grapes and modern wine technology has given them a justifiable reputation of being one of the best producers of white wines in the region.

Their racy, fruit-driven wines are eagerly snapped up by local restaurants, where they are the perfect foil for the shellfish that arrive from the neighbouring saltwater lagoon, the Bassin de Thau.

There can be few greater pleasures in life than sitting in one of the pretty local fishing villages, overlooking the sea, with a plate of oysters or Moules Marinières, washed down with a glass or two of one of their award-winning whites!

Mèze, overlooking the oyster beds in the Basin de Thau

We are offering 6 bottles of each of these wines in a great Mixed Case Offer -

Beauvignac Viognier 2009                                                                                                                                  £5.50 Vin de Pays d'Oc                                                                                                                                                            We have always loved this aromatic grape variety and this is currently one of our favourites.  It has a beautiful honeysuckle nose, and on the palate there is gentle concentration with delicious apricot and peach flavours,  finishing with hints of hazelnuts and great length.  Goes beautifully with fish, salads and especially Thai food.

Beauvignac Picpoul de Pinet 2009                                                                                                                      £5.95   AC Côteaux du Languedoc                                                                                                                                         This is a longstanding favourite of ours. Picpoul de Pinet is the only white grape variety entitled to its own appellation in the Languedoc – all the others are Vins de Pays.  This beauty is a classic.  Unlike many other Picpouls, this spends some time on the lees before bottling, which gives it much more flavour. It is packed with juicy, crunchy fruit and has a lovely racy, yeasty finish. In style it is captures the best of Chablis and Muscadet, and for this reason is the perfect partner for seafood, especially shellfish.  It has a well-deserved Gold Medal from Paris.

Mixed Case Price : £68.70
